Nothing could be worse than the
fear that one had given up too soon,
and left one unexpended effort
that might have saved the world.

Things I Love To Do...

Besides striving for world peace (see quote above), here are some things I love to do:

I love to read!

I am currently reading Anna Karenina by the Russian author, Leo Tolstoy. I purchased an older copy of the book (1958 printing) while still in high school, but only made it to page 33 of the first book. I am now on page 474, with only 20 pages to go in the first book. The second book is approximately the same length. While it is unusual of me to be fascinated by "romances," I could not resist the water stained pages of this dear little book.

My normal reading selections consist of LDS Church history, historical journals, and books on film analysis.

I love films!

My passion for reading and critically analyzing films came with my current job in the Media Arts (film) Program at BYU. I find it fascinating that, if one looks for it, spirituality can be found in a lot of the films produced. Take for example, The Adventures of Milo and Otis, Babette's Feast, or my personal favorite, Whale Rider.

I love music!

I love to sing, play the piano (wish I had stuck with my lessons when I was 9!) and listen to good music. I have a wide range of musical tastes: from country to Christian; from eighties to classical; from pop to industrial. If it has a good dance beat, I probably like it.

I love to scrapbook!

I am not the most talented scrapbooker. I am one of those people that need to be "in the zone" in order to produce a good page–and that can take me hours! I do however love the hobby and hope to devote more time to it when I graduate. There's a room with bright pink walls, black concrete floors, and lime green, pink, and black curtains just calling my name!

Who knows, maybe someday I will create a digital scrapbooking tool, web site, and everything that goes with a successful online business!

I love photography!

I am not only fascinated with the moving image, but with still images as well. I don't take "posed" pictures, but rather candid photos captured when least expected. I find they make for better photos and better memories. I also love to take photos of nature, like the photo taken and used in my title graphic. Old buildings and architecture are just as beautiful and cry out to be photographed and remembered. I currently use a Canon Rebel Ti 35mm, yes a 35mm! I have been patiently awaiting the arrival of a digital Ti with HD, and now it's here! Now I just need the money to buy it!

I love to learn!

I have always had a talent for learning new things, especially if they were related to math, technology, and structure (like databases). My fear of going back to school was balanced with my desire to learn new skills, obtain more knowledge, and increase my abilities. I push myself to succeed. Thankfully, I have passed that love of learning on to my daughter!
